StrumTree Terms and Conditions

StrumTree is pleased to welcome you to our community! In order for our classes to operate well and for all students to have the best possible experience, the following items form our Terms and Conditions of Enrolment. In joining our programs, you are agreeing to the following:

Fees and Payments:
I understand that enrolment in StrumTree classes requires payment in full prior to the commencement of term (unless otherwise agreed). Failure to make payment may result in forfeiture of my place in the class.

Public Holidays:
Unless otherwise indicated, StrumTree classes will not be held on public holidays.

Class Changes:
StrumTree reserves the right to provide substitute teachers, adjust class times, or merge classes where necessary to ensure the smooth running of programs.

Conduct:
I agree that I will conduct myself appropriately during StrumTree activities, and refrain from bullying and harassing behaviour at all times, whether towards StrumTree students and their families, staff, patrons or audience members.

Non-solicitation:
StrumTree encourages students to practise together outside of class in informal, non-commercial settings. However, I acknowledge that this general encouragement does not constitute permission to organise or run paid, commercial, or structured activities involving StrumTree students.

I agree that I will not, without prior written consent from StrumTree:

(a) charge money, collect fees, or receive any financial benefit in connection with any music-related activity involving StrumTree students; or

(b) solicit, recruit, or organise StrumTree students into external classes, programs, or structured group activities that are similar to or compete with StrumTree’s services.

This applies during my enrolment with StrumTree and after my involvement with StrumTree ceases.

Intellectual Property:
I agree not to reproduce, distribute, share, or use StrumTree materials for commercial purposes or external teaching without prior written consent from StrumTree. All StrumTree materials, including lesson content, resources, and arrangements, are provided for personal use only.

Liability and Personal Property:
I acknowledge that participation in StrumTree activities is at my own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, StrumTree is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during classes or related activities. I also understand that StrumTree is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings brought to classes.

Social media permission:
I give permission for my image to be used on StrumTree’s social media, website and other promotional material and I waive the right to any financial payment for this use. If I do not wish to be a part of photography and video I can opt out when those images are being taken. If I wish to have a photo of myself removed from one of the platforms, I will contact administration in writing and StrumTree will remove the image within 7 days.

Privacy:
I understand that my personal information will be collected and used for the purposes of managing my enrolment and will not be shared with third parties without my consent, except where required by law.

Termination:
StrumTree reserves the right to cancel my enrolment if I breach these Terms and Conditions or engage in behaviour that negatively impacts other participants or staff. In such cases, StrumTree may, at its discretion, issue a warning or take other appropriate action. For serious or repeated breaches, enrolment may be terminated without refund.

Concerns and Complaints:
I understand that should I have any concerns at all about the class, my enrolment, or any other aspect of my involvement with StrumTree, I should contact administration in writing at caspian@strumtree.au at the earliest possibility, for quick resolution of all matters.

Agreement:
These Terms and Conditions should be read in conjunction with StrumTree’s Refunds and Cancellations Policy. By enrolling in StrumTree programs, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

StrumTree Refunds and Cancellation Policy

We want StrumTree to be a stress-free experience. Here’s how refunds and cancellations work.

  1. First Class Guarantee
If you attend your first class and it wasn’t what you expected, you can receive a full refund of your term fee, as long as you cancel before your second class starts. After the second class has commenced, this guarantee no longer applies.
  2. Unforeseen Life Circumstances
If you need to withdraw during a term due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. illness, family emergency, relocation or major work changes), the remaining unused weeks of your term can be transferred as a credit to a future term or another StrumTree class, subject to availability.
Credits are not redeemable for cash, but may be transferred to a family member or friend with our approval.
  3. Cancellations Before the Term Starts
If you cancel before the first class of the term:
  • More than 3 days before the start date: you may choose a full refund or a full credit towards a future term.
  • Within 3 days of the start date: you may receive a credit towards a future term, depending on whether we can fill your place.
  1. Missed Classes
Missed classes are generally non-refundable. Where possible, we may offer a make-up class in another group during the same term, or provide practice materials so you can keep up, but this is not guaranteed.
  2. Classes Cancelled by StrumTree
If StrumTree has to cancel a class (for example due to low enrolments, teacher illness or venue issues), each student will be offered:
  • A refund for the value of that class, and
  • A free private Zoom lesson with a StrumTree tutor to catch up on class content

If an entire term is cancelled, you will be offered a full refund or a full credit towards another class or future term.

  1. Behaviour
StrumTree reserves the right to remove a participant from a class if their behaviour seriously disrupts the group or makes others feel unsafe. In serious cases, no refund may be issued. In other cases, a partial credit may be offered at our discretion.
  2. Requesting a Refund or Credit
To request a refund or credit, please contact us through our contact page.
    Please include:
  • Your name
  • Your class
  • A brief description of your situation

We will review your request and respond as soon as we can, aiming to handle all situations fairly and in line with this policy.
